Gavin Clifton

Hi, I'm Gavin Clifton, The Disabled Writer!

I write books for kids that celebrate and embrace differences, disability, acceptance, friendship, kindness, courage, and being unapologetically yourself.

I know what it's like to feel different, but I also know that it's not only okay to accept yourself but to be accepting of others. My stories are about showing kids that it's okay to stand out, always be you, ask questions, and embrace who they are (quirks, challenges, warts, and all).

Every child deserves to see themselves in a book. That's why I create funny, brave, and wonderfully imperfect characters, just like the rest of us. Whether they're navigating big emotions, making friends, or learning to see the world through someone else's eyes, my characters (and stories) always remind readers to be open, kind and inclusive, which makes society better for everyone.

So, if you're looking for stories with heart, humour, and a big dash of inclusion and acceptance, welcome! You're in the right place!

Writing is a passion

Writing is my passion, and it allows me to share voices and perspectives that often go unheard. Whether I’m crafting fiction or drawing from personal experiences, my goal is to inspire, challenge perceptions, and showcase the beauty and strength found in diversity. Every story I write reflects the lessons I’ve learned throughout my journey.

For me, storytelling is about creating connections—finding shared experiences in our differences and celebrating the unique paths we each walk. I hope my books and blog posts spark conversations, offer new perspectives, and bring moments of comfort and reflection.

I'm available for...

In addition to writing my own books and music, I am a Public Speaker, Creative Writer, and Disability Ambassador. If you have an assignment or project where my expertise could be valuable, feel free to reach out - I’d love to explore potential opportunities with you.

Public Speaking

I offer a series of inspirational talks that explore the challenges of disability, resilience, and inclusion. Through personal experiences, I aim to inspire, educate, and spark meaningful conversations.

Creative Writing

I love writing for myself, but I also offer writing services too whether that be social media content, song lyrics or  website content.

Ambassador

I am passionate about advocating for disability awareness and inclusion. As a Disability Ambassador, I am available for ambassador roles, collaborations, and initiatives that promote accessibility, representation, and positive change.

I was so excited to receive this book! Gavin is such a gifted writer! His story is exciting, thoughtful, and fun. This book really captures your attention, young and old. I love the inclusiveness and acceptance. This book needs to be in all public school libraries, children's hospitals, and therapy offices. Five stars!

A very inspiring read. It was thought provoking, humorous and heartfelt. Had me laughing and feeling pensive in equal measures. Well written. Highly recommend.
  • Cerebral Palsy & Me
I bought the book after seeing Gavin on Tik Tok. I have never come in contact really with anyone with a disability and i wanted to learn and understand what life can be like from a less able bodied persons point if view. It certainly opened my eyes to some misconceptions I had. Thank you for the great book.

This is such a beautiful book with a wonderful story! My little girl has a rare genetic disorder and I love to read both my children books that show the world is made of all different kinds of people and that’s what makes us so beautiful. Thank you Gavin, for proving that disabilities aren’t barriers but the things that make us unique and brilliant.
